In the slow move of an afternoon i thought about you. It has been years since our hearts have touched. Are you still flirting with the future? Did you ever find what you were searching for? Did you even know what it was that you were looking for? I miss you sometimes when i'm wandering around in my mind, down along the soft river of the heart, that place we'd go when we were inseparable. I remember when you fell thru that space between and i caught you in mid flight. We were amazing together, never dreamt it could ever end, but end it would.
Age has wrapped itself around me. I'm not the same guy. Eyes and ears failing, memory more specific. I remember your sweater, your love, your eyes. I remember how we'd touch, how we'd glance across the air empty with nothing but romance swimming between.
The world is dying these days. People have fallen into the arms of artificial medicine. Mechanical thought is replacing real love with fake embraces and happy faces. There is a wind blowing in from the west, a dark light caressing the day and truth is falling apart on the road to freedom. There is always a way thru the maze, a love awaiting in the moment, a dream to remember to forget the horror, the horror of war, the taste of plastic, the screens of nonsense.
I remember our love. It has kept its promise. 'I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow'.
Things could have been different but they weren’t. I am mostly content as i wander on down this road thru more valleys, hills, seas and streets towards that all-mighty horizon to the unknown. Possibly i’ll see you there, somehow, where memory and reality meet.
