ST39 ... That's what i like about Mexico.
People don't step up and complain and cause an uproar.
I took a local bus to el centro this morning. A very young man was driving. I stood right at the front. Another young man took my money, eight pesos, about forty cents. They must have been less than twenty years old. The bus was full, no standing room left, well you know, there is always room for a few more on a mexican bus. I am mesmerized at how little viewing room there is for the driver, cluttered with crucifixes, hanging knick-knacks, window stickers and as if he was sitting on a lawn chair he maneuvered around these narrow cobble stone roads like a snake around a hot rocky terrain. What really blew me away this morning was just before we arrived at the main downtown stop beside a small park while the bus was still moving they exchanged drivers. Possibly the first driver was learning from the other and they needed to change before they arrived at the stop. Whatever the reason, they did it with accuracy, eloquence. They had done it many times, you could tell.
That's what i like about Mexico. People don't step up and complain and cause an uproar. If it was done with nonsense and carelessness then people would jump in, but what works well, they leave it alone.
I headed to the gallery. I have some work on display there. Every Saturday, Jo, the owner has something happening. A class, a zoom with other photographers, a show opening. This week was Elizabeth Opalenik. I was incredibly impressed. Her work steps ahead of the many with a passion and techniques that combine craft and inspiration into a true art form. Some of her works are one of a kind. They can not be repeated. Darkroom processing that takes hours and demands a passion for a final print that speaks with an enormous amount of heart. Every heart is one of a kind. Minds are different in that respect.
Her latest work are flowers in reflections of various forms. All her work speaks to my sentiments but those images reflected similarities of perception between us. I talked with her and had her look at a few of my prints on display there. I think we realized a similarity and that was nice. I had been feeling a little uncertain lately of my passions. Of course if you have read any of my work, you will have noticed that uncertainty is a theme i am absolutely certain about. Cheers on that.
I looked at her work on-line. I was mesmerized. I know of no one other than myself with such a passion for images related to the moments of reflected light with water. She is a master. I am humbled.

Just read your last piece - you have passion AND talent. I have lost the email, so cannot comment on it, but had the beautiful pic of Elizabeth's.
