ST120 ... shadows
When the light is high and the shadows sharp, that's the time to seek the dark...
'The shadow can be a friend or an adversary, the brighter the light the darker the shadow; and it is not going away, anywhere, anytime soon, completely. Wherever there is light there will be a shadow. Overcast days are the best for hiding the contrast, blending it into the present, but as soon as you shed some light on the situation, again, the shadow re-appears. Any analysis whatsoever produces this antagonist. It is the nature of investigation, thought, interpretation. The shadow can multiply to ultimately total darkness if one avoids the cracks where the light slips in'…. that was his thinking, in the shade of an afternoon.
She avoided the shadow, acted as if it didn't exist. For years she kept a smile a-glow no matter how low, how low she would go. So, many thought she was the illumination of the world, the dream of their mind, the pleasure above all pain….. the pure positive entity, happy-furously.
She fell, she fell hard. There was no shadow left to perceive, darkness spread like a shattered heart over a field of wild sufferings. She was unprepared, an angel in a ditch of pain, smothered by a positive attitude of unreal shields, walls made of fancy frills, insecurities — no foundation.
When the light is high and the shadow sharp, that's the time to seek the dark; a way to see clear thru all the grey shadowed fears to balance those dual illusions of life.
When she surfaced, she swam ashore, watched the sun sail into eternity; shadows melting into a calm mist of silence.
a shadow etched against the wall
where ghosts awake and mirrors fall
she found the truth of memories gone
hidden in the cracks where fears belong
in the grey daylight of her mind
where silent darkness is blind
her heart on fire black burnt
found the spirit of everything learnt
down that road one must go
take it fast, take it slow
the raven the coyote
they all know
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
